Daniel Fast- Days 1&2

We are closing on the second day of our fast. I am do happy to be doing this with my family! Otherwise, I can imagine it would be quite a bit harder. The children are doing quite well. And we are all learning how much of a sugar addiction we all had.

In preparation for this first week I bought 48 apples, 2 bags of pears, I bag of organic green beans (frozen), 1 bag of organic broccoli (frozen), 2 bags of Brussels sprouts, 2 bunches of bananas, 6 romaine lettuce heads, rolled oats, and whatever else we had here at home.

Just in the first 2 days we've finished the bananas, one bag of pears, the bag of celery & half the apples. Keeping in mind I made homemade applesauce yesterday. For " milk" I've been using rice milk. But we are very spoiled having had the raw milk we buy from the local dairy co op.

Day 1:
Breakfast:
Strawberry banana smoothies (8 out of 8 enjoyed these)

Snack:
Peanut butter and celery sticks (7 out of 8 enjoyed these)

Lunch:
Mediterranean black bean salad ( just momma and daddy liked this... It was yummy!)
Apples and veggie sticks for the kids (all the kids liked these)

Dinner:
Roasted carrots and potatoes (8 out of 8 )

The first day brought me to the fact that I would need to prepare our meals a day in advance. It was just too much brain work to fight my flesh and think about cooking food.

Day 2:
Breakfast:
Citrus oat muffins , these are made with only rolled oats, homemade unsweetened applesauce, homemade date honey, unsweetened coconut, and a bit of lemon zest. They were tasteless. None of the kids liked them. And my husband and I just ate the to sustain us.

Peach, coconut and strawberry smoothies for the kids. All the kids loved them!

Snack:
Pears with date honey.
Date honey is made. By boiling pitted dates with cinnamon. Then blending them with almond butter. It's so good! It's creamy and rich and tastes like chocolate almost!!!!
Only I and our 5 year old liked it

Lunch:
Peanut butter and celery with carrots and veggie sticks
(veggie sticks are like a potato chip, but their only made with veggie powder and sea salt. No preservatives.)
And Mediterranean black bean salad for momma.

Dinner:
Baked sweet potatoes with cinnamon
Garlic Roasted Brussels sprouts , potatoes & carrots (5 out of 8 liked these)

Even though I miss certain foods, I am enjoying the amount of extra preparation needed to feed the family. Even my husband feel more taken care of. It is so important that we nourish our families! I will definitely be taking this with me even after the fast is complete.

I'll try to add pictures tomorrow of the food.

Sounds yummy to me:) This fast sounds interesting and I can't wait to see how it all turns out in the end. I'm not sure how well my kids would do with it either, especially the 9 yr old. She is the pickiest of them all:)
